Arbor Day Poster Contest

See the State Winners:  2008 | 2007
2008 Kansas Curricular Standards

The Arbor Day National Poster Contest is an artistic competition open to fifth-graders across the nation striving to increase the awareness of the important role trees play in the quality of life and environmental health of cities and towns.

Each year, students from across the nation submit their themed drawings at the state-level.  The student whose drawing is selected as best representing the current year's theme moves onto to compete at the national level.

The first place winner, and his or her parents and teacher, will receive an expense-paid trip to Nebraska City, Nebraska, birthplace of Arbor Day, where they will stay at Lied Lodge and Conference Center and participate in the June 1-3 National Awards Weekend. The winner also will receive a $1,000 savings bond and a lifetime membership in The National Arbor Day Foundation. The winning student's teacher will receive $200 for classroom materials. The second place winner will receive a $500 savings bond, and third place will win a $250 savings bond. Their teachers also will receive $100 and $50 respectively. The top three national winners will also each have a tree planted in their honor.

To find out how you or your class may participate, contact Kim Bomberger, Kansas Poster Contest Coordinator.
