Cooperative agreements between a fire department and KFS must be
completed before a fire department may participate in programs offered
by the Kansas Forest Service. KFS
utilizes federal funding sources for many programs and, therefore, is
mandated by federal agencies to establish these agreements. This simple
document clarifies the responsibilities of both KFS and the fire
department, and must be signed by the fire department and State
Forester to be considered active. The agreement is valid for five years.
Currently, cooperative agreements are required for participation in the
Federal Excess Property Program and
the Volunteer Fire Assistance
program.
