--------------------------------Warning!!!------------------------------------
The Army has discovered there is a high accident and fatality rate with these vehicles, especially the basic models with the military design tires. The A1/A2 models do not have as bad a problem, but it still exists.  The Army is retrofitting an "anti-lock" brake system on their fleet and replacing all the 11:00x20 military design tires with 11:00 R 20 radials of a different tread design. The USMC and Air Force will be replacing the M939 series trucks with different vehicles. Here are the following speed restrictions on all M939 series non-modified vehicles.

Maximum Safe Operating Speeds
Highway: 40 mph
Cross Country: 35 mph
Mud, Snow: 25 mph
Icy conditions: 12 mph

Even though we are not bound by these restrictions, they should be taken into consideration, especially in "less than ideal" driving conditions such as wet roads.
