Fire Program Coordinator
Ross Hauck joined Kansas Forest Service in August 2002. He is a Kansas native with over 30 years of volunteer fire service. Ross received an A.A.S. from Colby Community College in 1971, B.S. in Life Science and M.S. in Adult and Occupational Education from Kansas State University finishing in 1984. For several years, he was the Training Officer for Riley County Fire District #1 and a contract instructor serving small communities and rural departments.
Professionally, Ross is currently an NWCG qualified Base/Camp Manager, Equipment Manager, Facility Unit Leader and Firefighter Type 2. He is also a FEMA qualified Logistics Chief on the Kansas Incident Management Team. He has attended Firewise Communities Assessment Training, Great Plains Wildfire Academy, and the National Fire Academy. He is a member of the Western Wildfire Protection Committee, Rocky Mountain Coordinating Group, Kansas Fire Service Council and Kansas Interagency Wildfire Committee.
As Fire Management Coordinator, Ross serves Kansas fire departments administering grants, supporting training and promoting firefighter and public safety. Public service has been important to Ross throughout his career and as Fire Management Coordinator that philosophy continues.
