Timber Products Output |
In addition to forest inventory, FIA conducts important studies
about timber product outputs and forestland ownership. Timber Product
Output (TPO) studies monitor the removal and processing of wood
in Kansas and other states. Information is collected through
questionnaires sent to Kansas sawmills. Surveys are conducted every 5
years and the data is compiled into reports.
Without the cooperation of Kansas sawmills, this important information would not be available for intelligent planning and decision making in wood procurement, forest management, forest industry development, and forest research. Like other FIA programs, TPO data is confidential and only analyzed and published in aggregate form.
