Ross Hauck joined Kansas Forest Service in August, 2002.  He is a Kansas native with over 25 years of volunteer fire service.  Ross received an A.A.S. from Colby Community College in 1971, B.S. in Life Science and and M.S. in Adult and Occupational Education from Kansas State University finishing in 1984.  For several years, he was the Training Officer for Riley County Fire District #1 and a contract instructor serving small communities and rural departments.

As Fire Management Coordinator, Ross serves Kansas departments administering grants, supporting training and promoting fire fighter and public safety.  He also oversees the Federal Excess Personal Property program that makes excess military equipment available to rural fire departments.

Professionally, Ross holds a Red Card and is working towards qualification as a Type 3 Information Officer.  He has attended Firewise Communities Assessment Training, Great Plains Wildfire Academy and the National Fire Academy.  He is a member of the Western Wildfire Protection Committee, Rocky Mountain Coordinating Group, Rock Mountain Region Information Working Group, Kansas Fire Service Council, Kansas Interagency Wildfire Committee and Kansas Forest Service Fire Training Development Committee.

Public service has been important to Ross throughout his career.  As Fire Management Coordinator, that philosophy will continue.
