He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia where he received his Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Master of Science in Forestry. He has been a District Forester in Southeast Kansas since August 1978. He presently works in 12 counties in the southeast corner of the state. His primary responsibility is to work with landowners to assist them with management of their woodlands. Before coming to Kansas, David worked for Weyerhaeuser Paper Company in their Research and Development in Centralia, Washington and Hot Springs, Arkansas.
