Agricultural Technician II

Kansas Forest Service is currently hiring a full-time Agricultural Technician II to be a part of our Tech Team. The Tech Team will implement forestry-related tasks throughout the State of Kansas. Technicians will work under the direct supervision of the Tech Team Lead. Additional assistance and oversight will be provided by KFS field staff (District Foresters, District Fire Management Officers, The Forest Health Coordinator, and the Greenhouse Manager) to collect urban tree inventories, identify and monitor forest health threats, remove invasive species, measure and mark timber stands enrolled in conservation programs, conduct wildland fire management, improve wildlife habitat, collect viable seed, help with seasonal tree sale packing and assist with KFS grounds and Arboretum maintenance tasks (pruning, watering, weeding, brush disposal, etc.). Training, guidance, and equipment is provided for each of these tasks.

Fire Protection Specialist

The Fire Protection Specialist is an intermittent, on-call position with the Kansas Forest Service, designed for individuals with specialized skills in wildland fire and incident response. These highly trained professionals play a critical role in supporting incident management efforts both within Kansas and across the country. Fire Protection Specialists contribute to all facets of emergency and incident response, including wildfire suppression, prescribed fire, fire prevention, aviation support, public education, dispatch, and all-hazard response operations. In addition to technical skills, individuals in this role must demonstrate strong leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities.
