Conservation Trees Specialist
Aaron grew up in Newton, Kansas, and has worked primarily in agriculture for over the past decade. He graduated from K-State with a B.S. in Horticulture in 2011, and from Michigan State University in 2014 with an M.S. in Horticulture. After school, he worked as a field/research technician for the MSU Potato Outreach Program. He has worked on farms of varying size specializing in horticultural crops around the country. He recently settled in Council Grove where he helps with the family farm.
Aaron’s primary responsibilities with the Forest Service are related to the Conservation Trees Program. As the Conservation Trees Specialist, he helps maintain and improve the quality and utility of conservation plant material that the program provides for conservation plantings throughout the state. In addition to facilitating shipping and packing of plant material, he also focuses on developing propagation protocols for new plant species and organizing seed collection efforts.
