Jessica Schmeidler
Tech Team Member
Jess began working for the Kansas Forest Service as a student assistant for the conservation trees program in December 2024. There, she gained experience with greenhouse production and seedling shipping operations. After earning her B. S. in Fisheries, Wildlife, Conservation, and Environmental Biology at K-State, she was offered a position as a forestry technician in the spring of 2025.
Jess has always been fascinated by the natural world around her. She has prior experience in the field and lab settings working with a diverse array of flora and fauna in the Great Plains region. She looks forward to continuing to learn about Kansas forests as part of the KFS Tech Team, where she will perform community tree inventories, timber marking, seed collection, outreach events, and conservation trees.
In her free time, Jess enjoys hiking, doing arts and crafts, thrifting, and listening to music.
