nutsBlack walnut and pecan trees produce annual nut crops that are enjoyed by many people in cakes, candies, and cookies. Hammons Product Company, Stockton, Missouri, purchases millions of pounds of black walnut each fall from local hulling stations in Kansas. These hulling stations purchase walnut seeds directly from Kansas landowners. The Kansas Forest Service maintains a list of the locations and contact information for the walnut hulling stations.

Kansas State University’s Pecan Experiment Field, in Chetopa, provides excellent information about the culture and growth of pecan and black walnut for nut production (620-597-2972). Detailed information about the best cultivars and how to successfully grow pecan and black walnut for nut production are listed the publications below.
